Elevate is a charitable organisation that exists to enable and empower individuals, families and communities in our areas who are at risk of social exclusion, disengagement or in poverty. We promote awareness of our activities through the local authority, local business and local groups.

Elevate was set up in 2008 as part of a local church community cohesion provision, in 2015 it became an independent charity responsible for raising its own funds for its projects. Since 2008, over time, it has served over 1000 young people through sport, youth clubs and wellbeing services, since 2013 its primary focus has been on providing coaching support within education for those young people at risk of disengaging.

Since July 2015, when we became an independent charity we have established a trustee committee who manage the overall strategic provision of services. We enhance and support the work of local authorities, community groups and businesses and seek to work in partnership as much as possible. We train and place volunteers to achieve some of our outcomes.

Coaching: – Helps the coachee to identify exactly what they want, where they are now, and how to get there. Put simply, coaching is a non-directive confidential conversation, where the coach listens and asks questions and acts as a guide for individual learning. The coach creates a framework that enables the ‘coachee’ to work out their own solutions to a problem. This is an empowering experience for the coachee. In this approach, the coach generally avoids giving content especially suggested solutions. Effectively the coachee or young person engaged is participating in self-directed learning, and is gaining the tools and skills to enable them to find solutions to their situation. The coaching relationship is finite and therefore has an end.

The work we do will follow one or more of these approaches:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Coaching
  • Solutions Focused Coaching
  • Motivational Interviewing / Coaching
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapeutic (ACT) Coaching
  • Health & Wellbeing Coaching
  • Performance Coaching
  • Art Coaching

Our staff and volunteers are either qualified/trained in one or more of the above approaches, as well as influenced by Gestalt and Existential psychology. The organisation is a member of the Association of Coaching
